There are many English words that do not share the same meanings between England and America.
I was surprised to know that the English words we learned in school are closer to British English than the ones in the United states.
I used to say sellotape(英) for Scotch tapeAgain, (米) I've’ never heard sellotape from an American after I moved to Hawaii in 1980.
I could not believe that Americans say pants for trousers because pants are under pants not the one we wear outside. Again, I learned trousers that means pants in US.
you want to choose the one at upper if you are about to come to the United States and you should choose the lower ones if you will go to England. However, Both British and American people started sharing both words in their countries.
Lately, Everyone knows movies/ films, garbage/rubbish or jello/jelly are used or recognized by those two countries
